Compromise

I remember the first time she uttered the words to me,
Breathless, I was taken aback by their fluidity,
Assiduously, catering to my wounds, consistently uttering,
“I love you.”

Compromise.
The trickiest of the laws under Heaven’s skies,
As Arrogant I & Querulous She tried to avoid Abrogate We.
Compromise.

Come- I will always run to you;
I will seek you out in tumultuous storm.
Promise- I swear on my honor,
That I will keep you from insidious harm.

Two hearts bound by prayers and charms,
Delicate enchantments written by fingers caressing arms,
When she is wrong; I reach for her.
When smiles are gone; I reach for her.

She teaches me that in Unity is harmony,
When I’m falling back, she stretches her arms for me.
